XR Studio Special Projects

Special
projects
for advertising

When the campaign idea does not fit any off-the-shelf supplier, it becomes a special project. We build everything from custom electronics and robots to generative AI experiences — hardware, software and content made from scratch for your brand.

From the circuit board to generative AI. One team, from concept to operation.

What we build

Six disciplines, one team

Electronics, mechanics, software, AI and content under the same roof. That is what lets us promise something in the brief and deliver exactly that on event day.

Custom electronic devices

Machines, kiosks and objects built from scratch: board, firmware, sensors, actuators and finish. When the idea needs equipment that does not exist on the market, we manufacture it here.

PrototypingFirmwareManufacturing

Robotics and animatronics

Autonomous robots and mechanical characters that roam, interact and become the centre of attention at the event — with assisted operation and a public safety protocol.

NavigationTeleoperationSafety

Real-time generative AI

Image, sound, text and video created on the spot from what the person does or says — every participant leaves with a unique piece, with the brand identity kept under control.

ImageAudioAvatars

Computer vision

Systems that read face, hand, body, colour and object to turn the audience gesture into the trigger of the experience — no controller, no app, no instructions on the wall.

Micro-expressionsGesturesRecognition

Interactive installations and objects

Scenography and media that respond to touch: posters, walls, shop windows, tables and games that react to the audience — with sound, light and motion integrated into the space.

InstallationGamesVR / AR

Stunt marketing and viral video

Real actions in public space, filmed with hidden cameras, capturing the genuine reaction of real people — with legal clearance, image release forms and production insurance.

Cases XR Studio

Projects that got built

All produced by XR Studio, in partnership with the agencies behind each campaign.

Each project was developed on demand for a specific campaign, in partnership with the agency in charge. Scope, technology and timeline vary with the challenge — the cases above are a reference for complexity, not a fixed package.

Process

From brief to
live operation

A special project only works when technical feasibility is tested before it becomes a campaign promise. That is why we prototype early and run the operation in the field with our own crew.

I want to know more
1

Creative and technical concept

From the brief we design 2-3 possible routes, each with the technology involved, what the audience will actually do and an honest read of what fits the timeline and the budget.

2

Prototype and proof of concept

Before production we build the rough version that proves it works — the sensor reads, the robot moves, the AI generates. This is where project risk drops, with time to spare for adjustments.

3

Development and production

Hardware fabrication, software development, content production and finishing with the brand identity. All integrated and tested as a single system.

4

On-site operation

Setup, stress testing, technical crew present throughout the activation and a contingency plan. At the end, a report of participations and captured content.

FAQ

Your questions about special projects

Special projects are the campaign pieces you cannot buy off a catalogue: an electronic device built from scratch, a robot, an interactive machine, a computer vision system or a generative AI experience. XR Studio develops custom hardware, software and content to turn a brand or agency idea into a real experience running at an event, retail floor or digital campaign.

Custom electronic devices and interactive machines, robotics and animatronics, computer vision systems, real-time generative AI experiences, interactive installations and objects, digital avatars and characters, and stunt marketing actions with hidden cameras. They can all be combined in a single project.

The main ones include The Art of Review for O Boticário with Almap BBDO, a machine that reads facial micro-expressions and generates art with AI; the Heineken robots at Rock in Rio with agency Atenas, the first robot ever to take the festival stage; the Lindt activation at Baile da Vogue using computer vision; the DeeDee Beatz DJ avatar with 88Beats; the Chevrolet sign-language music video system with WMcCANN; the Avenue dollar-payment kiosk with agency Hands; and the touchable Johnnie Walker poster from the Paulinho da Costa project.

In four stages: creative and technical concept from the brief, defining what is feasible within the timeline and budget; prototyping and proof of concept to validate the technology before production; development and production of hardware, software and content; and on-site operation with a technical crew, stress testing and a contingency plan throughout the activation.

Software and generative AI projects usually take 4 to 8 weeks. Projects involving hardware fabrication, robotics or physical structures usually take 8 to 16 weeks, depending on mechanical complexity and required certification. Ideally XR Studio is brought in while the campaign idea is still being shaped, when the technical scope can still be adjusted.

Both. Many projects start inside agencies such as Almap BBDO, WMcCANN, Bferraz, Hands and Atenas, where we come in as the technical and creative partner of the campaign. We also work directly with brands, owning the project from concept to delivery.

That is exactly why the prototype stage comes before production. We test the riskiest part of the idea first, in rough form, and only then build the final project. If something proves unfeasible within the timeline, we flag it early and present an alternative route — instead of discovering the problem the night before the activation.
